Valerie photo shoot.

Well, I was trying to get some good shots of Valerie's pudge for my friend Kari.  Kari LOVES fat babies.  The fatter the better.  You'd think she was hoping to eat them for supper.  Anyways... I was also trying to capture how her super-cute smile is even cuter now that you can see her one little tooth.  I got a few shots for the first goal, not so much for the second. I think it was the angle.  But, for your amusement...

The arms are blurry in this one, but her ahnds show her meaty thighs...

She kept leaning forward...

You talkin' to ME?

WORD to your Momma...

And more baby bouncing because it's cute...

I'll try for the cute smile with one tooth pics tomorrow, I think the best view is when she's in the carseat leaning back....

New teeth. That's right. Not tooth, teeth.

last Sunday, I noticed a white tooth sticking out of Valerie's lower gum.  Now, 8 days later, we have two teeth!

Hamilton Children's Museum

Today we took the kids to Hamilton Children's Museum.  On Wednesday mornings, they have a children's program.  This week was about reptiles.  Carter was the oldest as kids his age were in school this week and he seemed sad that the song they were going to sing was one he already knew, so the person leading let him lead them all in singing and doing the story on the storyboard. He was thrilled and so for his 6th birthday, he got to be the leader for the day...

Then they took out the turtles from the huge aquarium tank.  Henri was obsessed with the turtles...

The boys tried out the huge turtle shell they had..

of course if Carter tries it, Henri has to as well...

Henri didn't realize how heavy it was....

The biggest hit was the diner that had parts of an actual diner in it...

Larry ordered a roast chicken sandwich...

Then we stopped by the mall in Hamilton at the Disney store and the boys were able to pick out Cars toys they liked... Henri decided and wouldn't let go.  They put it in a bag and handed it to him, he got them out immediately and carried them to the food court....

Biggest Loser

I was running a Biggest Loser competition on my scrapbook message board.  As a sedentary hobby, scrapbookers need a little motivation to get active and a little competition seemed just the ticket.  We weighed in each week and also reported minutes of exercise.

I started getting more serious about losing weight after having Valerie and my doctor recommending me getting down to my ideal weight since we're probably not having any more kids and with my pregnancy high blood pressure and other, smaller health concerns it would be a good idea.  I mean, I want to see these children grow up!  Getting off the baby weight is not usually too hard.  I'm usually within 5-10 pounds of prepregnancy weight by the time my babies are 3 months old.  However, I'd been carrying around my college freshman 15 (ok, 20) for quite awhile.  I did South Beach after Henri and got about 15 pounds over my ideal weight.

I lost the baby weight just by breastfeeding, like always within 3 months.  Then I had to actually work at losing weight.  I checked stuff out from the library and settled on Jillian Michaels of Biggest Loser fame & her weights/cardio combo as well as Jackie Werner, who has a similar style, just a little bit harder.  The bonus is most of the workouts are 20-30 minute videos, so I don't have to depend on weather and I can usually find that time in my day.  I bought some shoes to use only inside and started.

Me right before I had Valerie, probably around 204 pounds...

I started in October, around the time we went to Disneyworld...

I probably weighed around 185 I'd say.  I lost 10 pounds by the first of the year and started Biggest Loser-Scrapbooker's Edition at 174.5 pounds.

I finished on 3/31 at 159.5 pounds, so 14 pounds lighter or 8% of my 1/1 weight.  I got second place which I'm really proud of.  Our winner frequently won our exercise minutes for the week and lost 11% of her weight!  I'm really proud of her as well!  Anyways, here's my "after" picture. I will be doing the 2nd quarter as well since I'm still 9.5 pounds above my weight, which I think will get me to a size 8, which will put me where I was when I graduated high school, 15 years ago.  It's going a lot slower, but I'm getting used to saying "no" to certain things and saying "yes" to exercise.  I plan to get to the 150 and maintaining.  I'll indulge a little more and exercise a little less, but plan to stay there as I'm getting rid of my clothing along the way so that if I can't fit into my clothing, I better exercise!  I also plan to treat myself to some new clothes when I get there.

These are both from this week...

Cheeky Monkeys! and a lesson on NASCAR

Papa decided to teach the boys about NASCAR.  Henri settled into the exersaucer and Carter on Papa's lap and they all chose a car to root for...

Then yesterday Nana & Auntie had some work to do in the house, so Papa and mom took the kids to Cheeky Monkeys. The boys loved it.  Poor Valerie had a rough time with her teeth, she's drooling, feverish and sleeping a lot. Poor baby....  Henri wanted someone to go up the slide and down the slide with him.  I was exhausted from the second night in a row with Val & Henri up several times and told him I couldnt' because I had Val in the front pack.  So he adopted any adult in sight and grabbed their hand and asked them to go with him.  They all thought he was the cutest little thing.

Papa loved it...

For awhile anyways...

Paul gave them some technology to rediscover on our trip...

We also went to visit Paul's grandpa.  He's not doing very well, drinking little and eating less.  He seemed happy to see the kids and waved us goodbye.  Henri made friends with everyone in the hall, and told the ladies in the TV room, "Goodbye, grandmas!" when we left.

March 29th-I offered to let Carter take a bath in our bathroom and he wanted to come to the bath party he said.
