Henri's... er... non-allergy

The allergist tested for allergies to oats, eggs, crab, shrimp, almond, walnut, pecan, peanuts, soybeans and chocolate and came up with nothing.

Due to how long the hives last, her current suspicion is that it is not an allergy at all, rather some virus stuck in his system that activates the immune system every 4 weeks or so into hives.

Her recommendation was to take Zyrtec for a month, then stop it and see if the hives come back.  We're currently considering the recommendation and trying to figure out if we want to do that or just see what happens.

Henri's allergy bloodwork

Everything came back normal.  We're meeting with an allergist tomorrow.

I'm having a baby. ONE baby.

So after my MOPs group predicted triplets and my grandmother keeps telling me twins "run in the family"  (you know, like 15 times removed) we are definitely having ONE baby.  Lucky me, my uterus tips forwards making it easy to hear baby's heartbeat.  There's one heartbeat, I'm having close to zero morning sickness, and I have gained no weight.  Dr. is 100% sure we are having one baby.  That's the good news.

The not so good news is that because I had blood pressure issues with both prior pregnancies, Henri was really petite and my blood pressure hasn't ever really gone down since Henri, I'm already on blood pressure meds AND baby aspirin.

The bright side of that is I get lots of ultrasounds to measure growth and won't have to be pregnant a full 40 weeks (bad: I won't be able to go to my annual scrapbook retreat weekend).

I go back in 4 weeks.

Henri's allergy...

Henri broke out in hives again.  The third time in about 2 months. So, today after MOPs we headed back ot the Dr. who had just seen Henri last Monday for his one year appointment.  She was glad I had brought him in so she could see them and agreed they were hives and wrote a note that they are not contagious for the daycare he'll be at when I start work on February 1st.

She sent us over across the street to the hospital to draw blood and they will do tests on the blood, which may be back as early as Monday.  If the blood tests do not point towards the problem, we will be heading to an allergist.

So poor Henri is spotted, tired (it's 1pm... WAY past his 10am naptime and he was up 3 times last night) and hungry (an hour past lunch) as well as has a sore arm.

She also recommended going in to comfort him at night and have him get himself back to sleep and thinks this may get him to sleep through the night soon, especially since he can already put himself to sleep for naps and at night.

Trip to the Zoo

We met up with our friends at the zoo last Sunday and I am just remembering I didn't post pictures.  Silly, me :)

Teething Bites

So, while we were in Canada Henri was waking up 3-5 times a night, sometimes an hour at a time.  Was making me completely crazy.  We got home and he's back on regular schedule, naps at 10 & 3, bedtime at 7:30, one wake up in the middle of the night were I just give him a drink and go back to bed.  Not a peep at nap & bedtime, lay him down, he goes to sleep.

However, he's finally getting his 8th tooth, so every night this week 12-1am, we are up calming him down waiting for the Motrin to work.  First I thought it was the shots, but now I'm guessing teeth.  Mommy is having problems with this, because getting him a drink and going back to bed, I can fall right back asleep.  However, being up for an hour, means it takes me another 1/2 hour to go back to sleep.

I'm napping when Henri naps in the afternoon, which means poor Carter is on his own.  But I think he secretly likes it, because we're so busy with school and things it means it's the only time he gets to watch TV without me bugging him :)

Carter also got up last night.  He asked for some milk, then came in 5 minutes later, "Mom, I have to tell you something."  "um huh?" "I'm sorry I woke you up."  Poor baby.  He's been so patient with me lately.  He wants to play games during Henri's afternoon nap, but I'm so tired I can barely stand upright, he had to go to the car in his bathrobe from swimming yesterday (don't ask), shared his lunch without complaining with his brother, etc. etc.  He's just been so sweet and patient.  I'm hoping it's not a "phase" as Carter's phases tend to last about 3 weeks and we're almost at that point!

Monday, Monday....

So, Paul's team went all the way to the end, and unfotunately lost.  They have a second chance, but I believe it means playing somewhere else in February.  Paul can tell me more when he gets home, which, luckily is TODAY!

I also took Henri to the doctor for his 12 month appt.  Yes, I realize he's 13 1/2 months old now, but we left for Canada the day after his 1st birthday and they won't take them before or even on their birthday for the vaccines, so today we went.

He is just a few ounces under 20 pounds, so still in the 3-10% bracket, and height is 29 inches so still in 25%.  She's very happy that he's very firmly on the same line on the chart that he's always been.  He's little but growing well.

So while we were there I talked to the doctor about flu shots.  Normally you all know I'm not really a fan of them.  The kids aren't in daycare, I'm not going to a workplace, Paul never gets sick and brings stuff home, etc. However, I did start thinking last night.  If I'm pregnant (yes, I'm hiding this little announcement for those of you who actually read my blog, lol) and Henri's going to daycare for February and March (yep, I'm working Tax season, 3 days a week, another little announcement!) maybe we need to think about them.  So I went ahead and did it. We have to go back in a month for a booster. My OB will probably make me get them at my appt in 2 weeks anyways.  Oh, and Dad, if you say, "I told you so" I will never, ever get them again after this year, so just keep your satisfaction to yourself silently.

So I'm taking advantage of the traditionally long nap we get after doctor's appts and shots to update the blog, check Facebook, stuff myself with Halloween candy, and catch up on laundry before Paul gets home.  Which, honestly, I'm not really sure when that will be because he never got around to e-mailing me his itinerary.

This evening he'll be hanging out with the kids (which I failed to tell him yet) so that I can go over to church and be trained as our new assistant treasurer.  It sounds pretty easy, I just go in once a week for an hour or so to write checks (not payroll) and stuff like that.
